After the attack on our home and our son's murder my family was destitute. No one wanted to live in the house anymore and were later sued for breach of contract for the duration of our lease. We were forced to live in a hotel for six weeks because no one wanted to rent us a house again. You are treated as if you had a choice. We spent our life savings and had to start all over since we refused to take any furniture that had bullet holes in it. Our family was broken and without hope until a man of God came into our lives and gave us a roof over our head in November 2018. I was a graduate student at the University of Texas at San Antonio, but I struggled with going back to life as usual considering life was anything but usual. There were no arrests and although there were suspects, not enough evidence, so my son’s murderers are still walking the streets living their lives with their children. It all seemed unfair and I wanted to give up on life! Then a conversation with a friend about God made me realize I was struggling because God wanted me to do something positive with all the pain and hurt I am living with every day. My church, Godchaser’s Community Church and my pastors Donte and Tabitha Banks, gave me the opportunity to hear God’s calling for my family to share with others the miracle of hope and healing. They showed me I had purpose. I needed to bring hope to what feels like a hopeless situation when you are in the midst of it. It was intended for me to do for others like my son always did when he was alive, help in any way he could. As a parent, a mother who adored her son, I need to help others or life would be unbearable. The center is my way of honoring him and giving God the glory of the comfort and guidance he has shown me through the worst environment imaginable as a parent. I have learned God is always with you no matter what, good or bad, he is there and nothing brings me more joy than sharing that testimony with others.

Jackie is a mother and grandmother that works in the medical field. She has always doted on her family and faithful to her bible class. In 2015 she suffered a mother's greatest fear when her son was attacked in the parking lot of their apartments. She, like many who are violated in the place where they are supposed to be the most safe, did not want to reside there any longer. Her family had to live in a hotel during the most painful circumstances. It is for those of us who are like Jackie that this foundation was created for. It is also why she is a cherished board member. She knows all too well how hard this is and wants to be a part of helping those that need to relocate when tragedy strikes at home!
